Live recording - The Space 28th September 2008 - Sound: James Bull
Music Astor Piazzolla
Lyrics Horacio Ferrer
(The Cities)
Y fue que dijimos:
Señor, enséñanos
A levantar ciudades
Que sean iguales a los árboles
Que llegan a estar maduros
Antes de quedarse secos
(génesis, versículo primero,
Capítulo 1972, del futuro testamento)
The poetry of the song is a very moving description about our modern cities where hate and death are always present (terror and destruction). It finalizes with a beautiful call for rebuilding and the reconstruction of new cities where humans could live in peace.
And then we said:
Lord, teach us
To raise cities
Equal to trees
That reach ripeness
Before drying out
(Genesis, first verse,
Chapter 1972, of the future testament)
